Army Emergency Relief Scholarship Due TOMORROW, April 1st
Are you a dependent child or spouse of active duty, retired, and deceased Army soldiers or National Guard or Reserved soldiers on Title 10 orders? If the answer is yes, apply today for the Army Emergency Relief scholarship. During the 2018-2019 school year, they provided 4,000 scholarships to dependent spouses and children. In the last 15 years, they distributed 70,000 scholarships totaling $125 million.
Eligibility
- Spouse or child of active duty, retired, and deceased Army soldiers or National Guard or Reserved soldiers on Title 10 orders for the full academic year
- Applicant can not be a member of any military branch or enrolled at a military academy
- Spouses can enroll part-time (6-11 credit hours) or full time (12+ credit hours) each semester
- Children must be enrolled full-time for the entire academic year & be under the age of 24
- May receive the scholarship for up to 4 years of full-time enrollment (children & spouses) or 8 years of part-time study (spouses only); reapply each academic year
- Must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA

Chromebook Damage? Need A Charger?

To check out a replacement device, students must present a photo ID. If students do not have a photo ID, parents can show their photo ID. Please remember these are district technicians and they do not know students or parents.
Damage devices will be accepted and a ticket will be created by the technician. If the shutdown is still in effect, the district will decide how to recover the loaner devices and return the originals. Please review the Richland Two RUP and Terms of Agreement regarding damage, loss, and theft policy and charges.
Kajeet Hotspots are currently unavailable. Spectrum is offering two (2) free months of internet and wifi services to all NEW customers in households with Pre-K to 12 grades or college students who need remote education. They are also waiving installation or pre-payment fees. For more information, contact Spectrum at 855.243.8892.

ACADEMICS: Senior Kullman Awarded Teaching Fellowship
Congratulations to Samantha Kullman, a senior at Ridge View High School has been awarded the prestigious South Carolina Teaching Fellowship. Samantha will join the freshman cohort at The University of South Carolina-Aiken. Applicants for the program undergo a rigorous selection process that includes an online application, an interview and presentation in front of a team of three educators, and a scored response.
Following the rigorous selection process, applicants who are awarded a Fellowship receive up to $24,000 in yearly scholarships (up to $6000 a year for four years) to attend a Teaching Fellows Institution in South Carolina. Each Fellow agrees to teach in South Carolina one year for every year he or she receives the Fellowship. ACADEMICS: College Board Offers FREE Live AP Resources
Do you need assistance with your AP courses? College Board is offering free, live AP review lessons, delivered by AP teachers from across the country. Here are some important details you may want to know:
- The courses are optional, mobile-friendly, and can be used with any work your AP teacher has provided you.
- Live sessions are recorded so you can access them at any time.
- Lessons will only focus on the first 75% of the course but will include some supplementary lessons on the last 25% of the course.

ACADEMICS: Taking an AP English, Math, Computer Science, or Science?
Our NMSI Advanced Placement partner is adjusting in-person Saturday Student Study Sessions to adapt to online delivery. Sessions will be offered in live and on-demand formats. Students can participate in one-hour sessions that cover one topic at a time. Through small group instruction, students will engage with other students and expert AP teachers in an interactive environment.
Registration is NOW OPEN for the March 31 - April 9 Student Study Sessions. Students can now select the sessions based on the topics for which they need support. Follow the instructions below to register for the topic session.

The Rotary Club of Blythewood announced this morning that they will be offering FIVE $2000 scholarships this year. Students who reside in the 29016 zip code area are eligible to apply. ACADEMICS: Scholars Places Third in Black History Month Trivia
Congratulations to Scholars Academy Magnet for Business and Law students Sarah Hasan, Bernie McIlnay and Grace Miller and BioHealth student Yasmine Lattimore for placing third in the Omega Psi Phi Black History Month Trivia Bowl February 22, 2020. Each student won a $50 prize.

ACADEMICS: Scholars Sophomores Advance to National History Day State Round
Congratulations to our Scholars Academy Magnet for Business and Law sophomores who won their event in the Regional Round of National History Day at the State Museum today: Zierin Thomas, Perrin Thomas, Hayden Pendergrass and Cori Lunn for their group performance Breaking Barriers: Bubonic Plague and Isaiah Frazier, ZiYonna Guider, Alijah Norris and Sonne Brown for their group documentary Breaking Barriers: The Mongol Empire. ACTIVITIES: Prom Tickets on Sale for $65!
Prom tickets are currently on sale for Ridge View’s 2020 Prom, “Masquerade,” on Saturday, April 25th! You can purchase prom tickets at Ridge View in the front office and through ParentPortal (using the parent's account). If purchasing tickets in person, you must complete the reservation form before paying for your tickets. Students may reserve prom tickets every Thursday during lunch across from the book room and with Ms. Bovidge in A-04 after school.
Ticket sales are limited to two per student and are only available to 11th and 12th grade students. If you are purchasing tickets through ParentPortal, there is a link to a Google form available when you purchase tickets that must be completed before paying for the tickets. This form asks for information such as your student ID number, advisory teacher, and so on. You must also agree to follow the prom dress code found here. If you are purchasing more than one ticket, you will also need to answer several questions about the date you plan to bring to prom.
You may bring a date that attends Ridge View High School regardless of that person’s grade level. You may also bring a date that does not attend Ridge View. The maximum age for dates is 21 at the time of prom. If you are bringing a date to prom, the last day to provide the required information about your date is April 1st. After that time, you may not bring an unauthorized date to this event.
Tickets are $65 each through March 30th. Prices increase to $75 on April 1st and $75 on $125 on April 21st.
