ACADEMICS: Free Summer Enrichment Program for Students

This virtual learning opportunity happens in real-time and students can choose the session that works best with their schedule. Students will need a reliable computer or smart device with internet access to stream audio and video. 

Session 1: Aug. 17 - 27. Monday - Thursday each week at 6 - 7:15 p.m. CDT
Session 2:

ATHLETICS: Sierra Oliphant Hired as Cross Country Assistant

Sierra Oliphant is joining the Ridge View High School Cross Country staff as an assistant coach.  She is a Ridge View High School Alum (Sierra Henderson while at Ridge View). Her main events were the 4×400, 4×800, the 800-meter dash, and the 5K in cross-country. Originally from Philadelphia, PA, she has lived in and grown to love Columbia, SC for over 14 years. She has been married to Steven Oliphant Jr. for 10 years and they have two children, Ashtyn (8) and Zoe (4). Both former and current athletes know her as “Coach O.”

During her time running at Ridge View (2006-2009), Coach O had the honor of not only placing 7th overall in the state for cross-country with a 5K time of 18:51 in 2007 but went on the following track season to break the 800-meter South Carolina state record in 2008 (2:13:30). Many of her fondest memories were with her relay group who coined themselves the “The Fantastic Four.”

Midlands Technical College Virtual Dual Enrollment Information Session

If your child is enrolled in AP Calculus for the Fall Semester of the 2020-2021 school year, 
Midlands Technical College is hosting a Virtual Dual Enrollment Virtual Info Session TONIGHT, July 30th from 6 - 7 PM. 

ATHLETICS: Fall Sports Workouts Begin August 3


All Richland Two Fall Sports teams will have the opportunity to begin workouts beginning August 3rd. Each student-athlete is encouraged to contact their sport’s Head Coach via email to get information regarding their sport for more specific schedules.  Head Coaches contact information can be found by clicking here.


Parents/Guardians are asked to drop their student-athlete off at near the Auditorium (follow the signs) for their pre-screening.  If a student-athlete does not pass the pre-screening, they will be able to get back in their parent/guardian’s vehicle.  Pickup at the conclusion of the workout will occur near the Auditorium as well.

  1. 2020-21 Completed Sports Physical Packet dated after April 1, 2020.  Packets can be downloaded from RidgeViewSports.com.  Scan Completed Physical Packets to PDF and email to Head Athletic Trainer Kanisha Jenkins (kajenkins@richland2.org) and Athletic Director Brian Rosefield (brosefield@richland2.org)
  2. A Richland Two RSD2 Athletic COVID-19 Waiver signed by student-athlete and parent.  Scan Completed COVID-19 Waiver to PDF and email to Head Athletic Trainer Kanisha Jenkins (kajenkins@richland2.org) and Athletic Director Brian Rosefield (brosefield@richland2.org)
  3. Their own water bottle (daily).
  4.  Their own facial mask (daily).
  5. Each athlete must pass pre-screening questionnaire/temperature check (daily) before being allowed to participate that day.
  6. Student-athletes must maintain 6 feet of distance between them and everyone else at all times.  No high-fives, handshakes, etc. will be allowed.

ATHLETICS:Kanisha Jenkins Announced at New Athletic Trainer at RVHS


Kanisha Jenkins is joining the Ridge View High School Blazers as the new Head Athletic Trainer and Sports Medicine Teacher!  She is originally from Gaston, SC and attended Airport High School.  Ms. Jenkins received her Bachelor degree in Exercise Science from the University of South Carolina and recently graduated in May 2020 from the University of South Florida with her Masters of Athletic Training degree.


Ms. Jenkins has been involved in athletics her entire life including cheering on the Carolina Gamecocks during the 2014-2015 season.  Her passion for athletics and helping people led her to pursue a career in athletic training.  As an athletic trainer her goals are to keep the athletes safe, educate them regarding the importance of physical and mental health, and promote the profession of athletic training!

“Ms. Jenkins comes to Ridge View High School with an incredible about of energy and expertise.  We are truly excited to have her on board as we help our student-athletes grow to their next level through sports,” says Brian Rosefield, Ridge View Athletic Director.  “We can’t wait to get her started working with our kids and community.”

An athletic trainer is an allied health care professional trained to prevent, diagnose, and treatment orthopedic and general medical injuries.  Athletic Trainers are a vital part of the Sports Medicine team.

Sign Up for Alive at 25 TODAY!! Don't Miss Parking on Campus

Alive at 25 virtual classroom courses are filling up quickly, at least 2-3 weeks in advance! Register your student as soon as possible at SCNSC.ORG to reserve a space before school starts back. Live, virtual trainings are led and monitored by Alive at 25 instructors on Zoom. Students must have access to the internet and a computer or tablet to participate. This training is not compatible with a cell phone. Participation is required an will be monitored. Students must engage with the instructor and moderator throughout the course to receive credit and the certification of completion.

Students must complete Alive at 25 in order to receive a Ridge View parking decal.

The attire (tux for male students and drape for female students) for the formal picture will be provided by Prestige Studios. The formal picture will also serve as the picture for the Ridge View 2020 - 2021 yearbook.

Federal Assistance to Families Enrolled in Free/Reduced Meals Program


Each child who was enrolled in a Free/Reduced meals program in March will receive $330. SNAP households with a qualifying child(ren) will automatically receive their P-EBT benefit on their regular EBT card TODAY, July 7th OR on their normal monthly SNAP issuance date, whichever is later. For children who were enrolled in a Free/Reduced meals program as of March 13th and are not receiving SNAP, the Department of Social Services (DSS) expects to begin mailing new P-EBT debit cards to the home address on file with the school district on July 20th.

SaplingHR Offering $1,000 Scholarship


The SaplingHR Onboarding Experience Scholarship is an award for any current or soon-to-be undergrad who has a passion for the people operations and HR space. The scholarship has a brief submission process, and applicants will be judged on their ability to convey their idea for useful innovation in mobile device technology.

Students applying must submit an essay explaining your great idea for an onboarding program for new employees of a business and how it would improve their experience. There are no conditions or requirements for this essay. Please keep submissions to 5 paragraphs and 600 words at the absolute maximum. While spelling, punctuation, and general cohesiveness will make your essay easier to read, and therefore judge, you are not being graded. The winning submission will be one that clearly conveys an idea that could make a big difference with information technology relating to mobile devices.

Ridge View HS, a Member of Med Pro 21 Project


The Med Pro 21 continuum offers innovative school-wide STEAMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math, and Medical) magnet programs for elementary, middle, and high school students in Richland School District Two. Bridge Creek Elementary, Rice Creek Elementary, Kelly Mill Middle, and Ridge View High began implementing a Magnet Schools Assistance Program grant in 2017. 

The Med Pro 21: Healthcare for a Caring Community project incorporates a STEAMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math, and Medical) Magnet theme into their curriculum. Forming a continuum of learning, the four STEAMM, Med Pro 21 schools provide unique theme-based learning opportunities for all students. Click the image to read more about the MED Pro 21 project.

2020 Congressional App Challenge, Apply TODAY!!!


Each year, members of the House of Representatives invite middle and high school students in their districts to expand their knowledge and engagement in coding by creating an original app. Apps are then submitted, and a winner from each participating district is determined. This competition is an excellent opportunity for students to apply their skills in science, technology, engineering, and math throughout the summer months.

ACTIVITIES: HOSA Placed in Top 10 Nationally!!!


Congratulations to our HOSA students who persevered to compete in the HOSA State Conference this year.  They did a remarkable job and several of them went on to compete in the Virtual International Leadership Conference last week.  

Institute of Health Science Magnet students, Hari Kumar and Ericka Van Alstine, placed in the top 10 nationally!  Hari placed 10th in Health Career Photography and Ericka placed 8th in Pathophysiology. This is a remarkable accomplishment.  Congratulations Blazers!!!
