ATHLETICS: Congrats to Jabari Hampton, State Weightlifting Champ


Ridge View’s Jabari Hampton is a State Champion as he claimed 1st place in the 180 pound weight class of today’s State Championship strength Meet held at White Knoll High School. Jabari bench pressed 340 pounds and squatted 435 while weighing 173.6 Congrats Jabari!

It's Spring Fling Week! Help Us Donate $3,000 to JDRF

A week full of fun that ends with the annual Student/Faculty basketball game.  The goal for this week is to raise $3,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund.   How can you help?

  1. Donate funds in your 1st period class.  The class with the largest donation will receive a pizza party with drinks.
  2. Donate $1 to slime a RVH staff member.  Yes, this also includes administration.  The staff member with the highest donation will get slimmed during the Student/Faculty basketball game.  
  3. Want to slime your favorite Ridge View staff member?  Donate an additional $1  and win a chance to personally slime the faculty member of your choice. 
  4. Students can also donate $1 to post JDRF footprints in their name.  All footprints will be posted in the Main Hall.  You can purchase a footprint in the Main Office or in Student Activities (Room M-141).
  5. Purchase a ticket for a $1 to the Student/Faculty basketball game and a chance to see who are the better players - the students or the Ridge View staff.  
If everyone donates $2 for JDRF, 
we will reach our goal.

Report Cards Distributed Next Week

The Third  Nine Weeks ended today.  Report cards will be distributed in Advisory on WednesdayApril 11th.  Remind your child when he/she comes home to show you the report card.  Students who are on the Principal and A/B Honor Roll will attend a celebration and will have their names printed in The State.

ATHLETICS: Boys Golf Continue Their Winning Streak

Congratulations to the Ridge View Boys golf team for their victory over Dreher High School and Wagner-Salley High School.  The Blazers picked up two wins with a final score of Ridge View 206 Dreher 222 Wagner-Salley 239.  Jacob Fink lead the Blazers shooting a 42.  The highlight of the match took place on the par five sixth hole when Jacob recorded the first EAGLE of the season for the team. 

They also had a victory over Lugoff-Elgin the week before.  The Blazers took down the Demons 196 to 200, led by Jacob Fink and Brent Wilson who shot a 42.  The Blazers improved by 25 strokes as a team from their first match at Crickentree last week.

ACTIVITIES: R.O.O.T.S. Natural Hair and Wellness Summit, A Great Success

Ms. Shawna Moore, Science teacher and R.O.O.T.S. advisor, wants to thank everyone who came out and participated in the 1st Annual ROOTS Natural Hair and Wellness Summit held at Ridge View on Saturday, March 17th.  The guest panelists were amazing, the girls were engaged, and everyone had great questions and dynamic dialogue. M'Chaelah Brown (President), Hadiyah Ballard, and Rosebella Owuor (all Scholars Students) facilitated and made sure everything was in order. 

ATHLETICS: Lady Blazers Softball Beats Ben Lippen

The Lady Blazers played and awesome game  against Ben Lippen but came up short 7-8 in the bottom of the seventh inning.  Aniaya Price was 4-4 at the plate with a triple and her first career over the fence home run. Christal Coard also had multiple hits for the Lady Blazers.  Their next game is Tuesday March 27, they play Westwood at home, JV at 5:00 PM and Varsity at 7:00 PM.

ATHLETICS: Boys Golf Beats Brookland Cayce

Congratulations to the Ridge View Boys golf team for their victory over Brookland-Cayce HS.  The Blazers won the match by a score of 204 to 236.  Airport HS won the match overall with a score of 172.  The Blazers were lead by Christian Wilson who shot a 44.  Brent Wilson also helped the team shooting a 46.  The Blazers will be back in action on Monday, March 19 when they play Lugoff-Elgin and Keenan HS.

COMMUNITY: Honoring Our Blazer Fathers


ATHLETICS: Boys Golf Places In Top 10 at Tournament

Congratulations to the Blazer Boys Golf team for placing 10th at the Magnolia Tournament in Sumter.  The team faced tough competition and tough weather but fought hard throughout the two day event.  The Blazers were lead by Jacob Fink who shot a 189 for the tournament.  Jacob recorded the first birdie of the season for the team in the second round.  Brent Wilson shot a 190 and Christian Wilson shot a 191 to help the Blazers beat Brookland-Cayce and Lugoff-Elgin in the tournament.  

CAREERS: Blanchard Machinery THINK BIG Program Accepting Applications

Blanchard Machinery is once again actively recruiting for the Think Big program at Florence Darlington Tech. which accepts students from across the state.  Students will receive:
  • a 2-year Associates program in Diesel Technology which features 8 weeks in general education classes and Cat equipment shop class.
  • paid training for 8 weeks in one of Blanchard Machinery's 12 shops across the state
  • a $5,000 tool set to use, which will become the student's if they remain with Blanchard for 3 years after graduating.
  • a job upon graduation.

Vocational Rehabilitation Updates for Richland Area

  • The 2018 Community Resource Night will be April 17, 2018. Click here to view the flyer.  
  • On May 8, 2018 Vocational Rehabilitation will host a Gear up for Employment Session with students on a non-traditional diploma track or planning on attending a four year college.  Guest speakers are from Midlands Tech- Quick Jobs, SC Employment and Work Force-Youth WIOA, Job Corps, Carolina Life Program, and Vocational Rehabilitation.  Be sure to subscribe to AT THE VIEW Daily, to read more about this event.  
  • Voc Rehab is hosting two tour sessions this summer.  The first session will be for students on a State Diploma Track.  Click here to review the itinerary.  The second session will be tours for students on a non-diploma track.  Once the itinerary is finalized for the second session, it will be published on AT THE VIEW Daily as soon as it is finalized.  Click here to print and complete the registration form.
