PTSO & SIC Meeting, October 1st

The Ridge View PTSO meeting will begin at 6:00 PM Monday, October 1st in the Library Commons.  Following the PTSO meeting, the SIC Meeting will begin at 7:00 PM in the same location.  There will be a special presentation on the Bond Referendum.  Come, listen, and get your questions answered.  Bring a Blazer parent.

ASVAB Test in Two Weeks, October 10th

Are you taking the ASVAB on October 10th?  If so, click on the image to access a wonderful resource.  This is an online copy of the 2018-2019 ASVAB for Dummies.  It contains 3 practice exams and 2 AFQT practice exams.  The last section of the book includes 10 tips that you should avoid, 10 tips to help you do well, and 10 tips to boost your Math and English score.  Bookmark the link so that you can easily access the book.

PSAT 8/9 and PSAT/NMSQT Testing on Wednesday, October 10th

All freshmen, sophomores, and juniors (who registered) will take the PSAT9 or PSAT on Wednesday, October 10th.  We will not have Late Start or Early Bird classes on this day.  

What should students bring on test day?
  • #2 pencils (two) - no mechanical pencils
  • any graphing or scientific calculator 
  • School ID, driver's license/permit, or military ID
What should students not bring?
  • Any devices, including smartwatches, that can be used to record, transmit, receive or play back audio, photographic, text, or video content
  • Protractors, compasses, rulers
  • Highlighters, colored pens, colored pencils
  • Binders or notebook paper
  • Dictionaries or other books
  • Food and drinks, including bottled water
Please do not be absent or tardy on October 10th.  Testing will begin at 8:45 AM.  Students will report to their testing location and NOT to first  period class.  More information will be sent to students' school email address.

ATHLETICS: Congratulations Girl's Golf

Congratulations to the Lady Blazers for a great week.  On Wednesday Sept 19, the Lady Blazers played a tri-match against River Bluff and Lugoff-Elgin and defeated both with a score of 216, LE 230, and RB 250.  Imani Belton was the lowest scorer for the match with a 44. 

On Thursday Sept 20, the Lady Blazers had their final home match against Chapin.  Before the match, three seniors were recognized: Hadiaya White, 1st year on the team, Ashley Hensley, 3 year starter and Arin Robertson 6 year starter for the Lady Blazers. The ladies played great but fell short to Chapin.  

The next match is Tuesday Sept 25, at Camden Country Club.

ACADEMICS: THE VIEW'S Free Tutoring Program


SC Legislative Black Caucus Conference on Oct. 31


Attention 10th & 11th Graders:  We are looking for three students to attend the SC Legislative Black Caucus Conference on October 31, 2018.  The SCLBC Youth Leadership Conference is designed for South Carolina high school students to engage in a mock legislative session where they will act as legislators for the day by discussing bills on the committee level and debating legislation on the Statehouse Floor. Students must be able to provide their own transportation for the day.   Please see Ms. Gibson in the School Counseling Office by October 22nd if you are interested in attending.

Don't miss Ridge View Homecoming 2018 coming up on Friday, September 28 at Stadium #2 located at 10901 Wilson Blvd in Blythewood.  The Blazer Varsity Football team will be taking on York beginning at 7:30pm.  Homecoming is a deeply special event where we invite all Ridge View Alumni to come back, see old friends and enjoy a special evening of fellowship.  We truly hope to pack the home side stands with current and former Blazers!  Don't miss the fun!

Midlands Youth Apprenticeship Information Session

You and your child are invited to an information session on the Midlands Youth Apprenticeship. The Midlands Youth Apprenticeship is a program which is designed to help create a talent pipeline for area businesses while creating a viable work place path for students after high school. 

Apprenticeships in sterile compounding, pharmacy support staff and nursing support assistant available with Nephron and Palmetto Health.

At the end of a two-year program, students will have earned a high school diploma, certification in specific field from Midlands Tech, credentialing from the US Department of Labor and two years of paid work experience.

ACTIVITIES: Homecoming picks back up on Tuesday!

Prior to the storm, we only got to enjoy one day of our Mardi Gras Spirit Week. The fun will pick back up with Tacky Tuesday next week on September 25th!! 

This year's Homecoming contestants are raising money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Each contestant will have buckets to collect funds throughout the week. Support your favorite contestant today!! 

Students and staff are welcome to show their Blazer pride by participating in all Homecoming spirit week activities.  Remember that all attire MUST follow the dress code. 

Want to Continue Free/Reduced Lunch Prices?

Richland Two has announced its policy for free and reduced price meals for children served in schools under the National School Lunch Program and the School Breakfast Program. 

Parents must fill out an application each year for children to receive meals at free or reduced price. Students who received free/reduced price meals during the 2017-2018 school year will begin paying full price if an application for the current school year is not submitted by Oct. 3, 2018.  Applications may be completed online or on paper. Both can be found here.

It is that time of the year we recognize our superlatives of the senior class through senior superlatives nominations.  The deadline for nominations is September 21, 2018.

Guidelines for Senior Superlatives Nominations are as follows:
  • Only individuals who are classified as seniors by the RVHS counselor’s office may hold a title.
  • Individuals may hold only one Senior Superlative title.
  • Current discipline and attendance records will be considered.
