Chromebook Insurance 2020-2021
The $20 Technology Insurance Fee can be paid online in Parent Portal. After September 30, 2020, the fee will disappear, and you will no longer be able to purchase insurance for your device.
Late enrollees have 30 days to pay from the date that they enroll.
The insurance fee covers one incident of accidental damage or theft (with a police report) per school year. We strongly recommend the insurance fee be paid as soon as the student has their assigned Chromebook. If damage occurs before insurance is paid, the student will be assessed the FULL cost of the repair or replacement. For example, a broken LCD screen is $150 to repair. A keyboard is $75. The insurance does not cover lost chargers; these are $25.

Focus on Your Future Friday will provide students, parents, and educators with a series of topics aimed to assist students in the college and career planning process. Hot Jobs of the Future will explore careers in demand over the next 5 to 7 years such as healthcare, information technology, architecture and construction, manufacturing, and more.

USC Honors College Writing Contest Deadline THIS Friday, Sept 25th
PARTICIPANTS: The contest is open to South Carolina high school juniors and seniors in public, private, and home schools. Students must be residents of South Carolina.
TOPIC: The topic is "How should we improve the state of South Carolina?" We welcome submissions in all creative genres, including fiction, drama, and poetry. We also welcome straightforward essays and other kinds of writings - diary entries and letters, for example. Submissions must be within 750 words.
DEADLINE: September 25, 2020.
Cash prizes of $1,000, $500 and $250 will be awarded to the first, second, and third place winners. The entries of finalists and winners will be showcased by the South Carolina Honors College on its website.

Pictures can be captured using a camera or your phone. You can earn 1 Yearbook raffle ticket every 10 pictures you submit! Please remember pictures must be school appropriate and adhere to district and school policies.
The contest is open to students, parents, and staff from August 31, 2020 until March 12, 2021. There will be a winner from each class - 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, and Staff. Parents qualify with their child's class.

Alumni Meriwether-Hawkins Featured in Black Future 2020
Class of 2013 graduate Kaci Merriwether-Hawkins is featured in Beats Black Future 2020. She is one of 14 Class of 2020 graduates who flood Beats' platforms with content about themselves, their communities, and the state of Black America. ACADEMICS: 5 Class of 2020 Grads Receive CNA Certification

Congratulations to five Class of 2020 graduates. After a long and difficult 9 month journey and the COVID pandemic cutting their clinical experience short, Cheryl Harrison, Trenton Love, Kyla Tomlin, Nashalie Valdez-Santiago, and Gabrielle Watson received 100% on their written and skill portions of the National Nurse Aide exam during Labor Day weekend. In a few days, their names will appear on the South Carolina registry and they can use their certification to obtain a job in the health care field. We are proud of them and their dedication to complete this certification after graduation. We would also like to thank Mrs. Diane Melton, who provided weekend practice sessions to help them prepare for their exams.
