Summer Reading Celebration!!!
All day today, students and staff will be participating in the Summer Reading Celebration. They will meet in reading groups to discuss and experience their summer reading book. Whereas most groups do hold book discussions, many of our teachers are all planning other activities to help the students experience their books.Monday, September 16, 2013
Faith McKie, A 2013-14 Mid-Carolina AHEC Academy Fellow
Congrats to Faith McKie. She was accepted into the 2013-14 class of Mid-Carolina AHEC, Health Careers Academy, which is an affliate of the South Carolina AHEC (SC AHEC) Health Careers Academy. This program is designed to develop high school students into culturally competent, resilient, academically proficient, and self-confident future healthcare professionals. As an Academy Fellow, Faith will participate in activities that promote academic success, career development, and personal growth and that include one-on-one mentoring, group activities, and parental involvement.
Do You Want a Pizza Party for Your Class?
Ridge View is offering a pizza party to the 1st period class that donates the most children's books on Thursday, September 19th to benefit Children's Garden, a daycare for homeless children. Books can be new or gently used.
College Resume Night
Do you need some help preparing your resume for college applications? You are invited to Ridge Views College Resume Night at 6:30 pm in the Media Center on Thursday, September 19th.
This Week in the College and Career Center

There are some important things going on with our College and Career Center this week. An army recruiter will be available to speak to interested students during lunch today, Monday, September 16th. On Wednesday, the C&CC would like to remind everyone that it is College Shirt Day, so everyone needs to wear those school colors.
On Thursday, September 19th, a representative from the University of South Carolina-Beaufort will be available to speak to interested students at 10:30 am in Art Room 2 (Mr. Nostrant's). Please see Mrs. Bishop for a pass to meet this represented. Also on Thursday, stop by the College and Career Center during lunch for the presentation "What are soft skills?"

Cross Country Results in the Coaches Classic
The Cross Country Varsity Girls finished 16th overall out of 25 teams with the Varsity Boys finishing 28th out of 30 teams. Kelsey Ball and Jacy Smith finished 34th and 37th with times of 20:31 and 20.:42, respectively. Paolo Milan placed 33rd with a time of 16:59. Unfortunately, the JV Girls were unable to compete as a team, but Fiona Findley lead the way for the tam with a time of 31:19. The JV Boys finished 29th with Jordan Hollis running a time of 19:31. The Blazers will race at Sandhills on Wednesday against Blythewood, Pelion, North Central, Airport, and Fairfield Central high schools.
