ACADEMICS Spotlight: Biology & U.S. History EOCs on Thursday

All students in Biology 1 and U.S. History will take their EOC in those courses tomorrow. Students should report to school with their Chromebooks fully charged and should bring their charger to school tomorrow just in case they will need it.  

Students remember to get a good night sleep, eat a good breakfast, and arrive on time to school tomorrow.  All EOCs are the final exam for the course and will count towards 20% of the final average.

ATHLETICS Highlight: Baseball Players Named All-Region

Congratulations to Ridge View Baseball for having three players named to the All-Region Team. Senior Chris Moody was voted Region IV-AAAA Player of the Year. Moody was selected to the All-Region team along with Seniors Logan Sherry and David White. Coach Joe Harvley was also voted by his peers as the Region IV-AAAA Coach of the Year. Great job Blazers!

The administration would like to PTSO for sponsoring BlazerFest Saturday May 10th. This event was amazing and gave the community an opportunity to experience Ridge View at it's finest.  We would like to especially thank the JROTC department, students, clubs, athletic teams, and teachers who worked to make BlazerFest such a memorable occasion.  We salute your efforts and commitment to Ridge View.  You are wholeheartedly appreciated.

REMINDER: Cardiac Athletic Screenings Available

The Richland Two Athletic Trainers are hosting a Cardiac Screening for Young Athletes. This quick, noninvasive screening provided by Providence School of Cardiovascular Diagnostics can help detect potentially life threatening cardiovascular conditions. This screening is the gold standard in detecting Hypertrophic Obstructive Myopathy. No physicians order or insurance is required, but pre-registration is required. Call 877-256-5381 to register. The cost is $50 per athlete. The diagnostic will take place on Saturday, May 24 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at Spring Valley High School - Bates Hall for ages 13-25 years of age. REMINDER: "You and Two" Tonight

Richland School District Two will host the first session of "You and Two," beginning at 6 pm tonight, Tuesday, May 20th at Bridge Creek Elementary School. The goal of this event is to share our success, address concerns and share ideas to provide the best education possible for our students. This event will include a brief overview of Richland Two, and a district panel for a question and answer session. Light refreshments will be served. All members of the Richland Two community are invited and encouraged to attend. "We know the best way to educate students is through the involvement of the community," said Superintendent Debbie Hamm, "We hope all members of the Richland Two community will come and share their ideas and visions for how we can continue to make Richland Two an outstanding school district.

ATHLETICS Highlight: Girls Track Sets State Record in 4 x 400

Congratulations goes out to Arlicia Bush, Amarrah Cooks, Johnaida Eliscar, Faith McKie, and senior Melinda McCallum for their outstanding performance at the State Championships this Saturday, placing 3rd overall as a team. The icing on the cake was their victory in the 4 x 400 relay in a blazing 3:49.07, which broke the previous state record of 3:51.3 held by Spring Valley in 1993 in this event. Eliscar led off in a time of 58.2, followed by Cooks (56.5), McKie (58.20), and Bush (56.1). Making this performance even more impressive is that Eliscar is an 8th grader while the rest of the relay team are sophomores. 

Bush had a busy and remarkable day as she captured the individual state championship in the 400 Meter Dash by setting the track on fire with a clocking of 54.96. She also placed fourth in the 200 Meter Dash (24.60), and teamed with Cooks, Eliscar & McCallum to place 2nd overall in the 4x100 Meter Relay (47.47). Additionally, both relays and Bush's individual 200 and 400 Meter times met the qualifying standards for the New Balance National Championships in June. 

Eliscar's 4th place finish in the 400 Meter Dash (57.84) and McKie's 5th place finish in the 400 Meter Hurdles (65.92) also contributed heavily to the Blazers successful day.
