Spanish National Honor Society Donates to Guatamala Mission

The Spanish National Honor Society collected 65 toothbrushes and toothpaste to help support a mission trip to Guatemala in September.  The mission includes volunteers, doctors, a dentist, and nurses from our community.  Last year the society supported the mission with 36 reading glasses.  They will continue supporting local mission trips.  Next spring is the school supplies collection for a school in Guatemala.  Please consider donating for this cause.  Gracias.

Gearing Up for the Challenge of The Institute for Health Sciences

The freshman BioHealth and Allied Health students participated in a field study at Extreme Challenge in Monroe, North Carolina this past weekend.  The magnet students experience the rewards of teamwork, communication, trust, and problem-solving.  As a result, they will better understand the responsibilities that are inherited in being part of an interdependent community such as the BioHealth and Allied Health Magnets.

Book Drive to Benefit Children's Garden

As part of the Summer Reading Celebration that will be held this week, Ridge View is holding a children's book drive to benefit Children's Garden, a daycare center for homeless children.  We are asking students, faculty, staff, and community members to donate a new, or gently used, children's book on Thursday, September 19th.  Students, teachers, and staff can donate to any 1st period classroom. Community members can drop off books at the front desk of the school on or before Thursday, September 19th.

Mercer University to Visit The View

A representative from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia will be visiting Ridge View on Thursday, September 19th at 10:15 in Room D-95.  Interested students need to see Mrs. Bishop in the College and Career Center for a pass to meet with this representative.

Varsity Blazers Beat Fort Mill

The RVHS varsity football team completed the sweep of Fort Mill on Friday night in front of the packed home crowd.  The team played their hearts out tonight in a game that was close at the half, but after some halftime adjustments by the coaching staff, they came out of the locker room determined to put the game away.  The final score was 32 to 19.  Check out the stats:

RVHS Student Performs For AdvancED

Paul A. Jones III is a sophomore at Ridge View High School and plays the trumpet in the school band, but he also has another talent.  Paul also plays keyboard for The Horizon Band.  The Horizon Band is composed of four talented students from Richland School District One, Richland School District Two and Lexington Three.  These students, under the guidance and encouragement of their parents and music teacher, have combined their talents into an entrepreneurial partnership that from a genre of music that ranges from gospel to R&B to the professional world of Jazz.  These young artists have opened performances for such renowned artist as gospel singer CeCe Winans, professional jazz artist Najee, and American smooth jazz saxophonist and flutist and most recently, the band played for the Auntie Karen Foundation Master Class where Gladys Knight was dazzled by their talent and performance.  The Horizon Band has traveled to other states to perform because their reputation for excellence preceded them and their exposure is increasing.
