Academics Spotlight: DECA Students Win Virtual Business Challenge

Ridge View DECA students competed in four Virtual Business Challenges that were sponsored through Knowledge Matters, Inc. in the areas of Personal Finance, Restaurant, Retail, and Sports.  Challenge 1 ran from October 21st to November 15th and required students to manage their finances, operate businesses, and make business decisions related to their industry field.  These international competitions allowed students to demonstrate financial savvy as they maximized their net worth.  The following students worked individually or in teams and placed in the following areas:

Personal Finance Challenge (state)
1st Place: Jammie Huynh - also placed 10th (out of 363 teams) in the Southern Region and 20th (out of 900 teams) in the nation
2nd Place: DeCory Ford, Madeline Hahn, & Sydney Swann: #2 in the state
3rd Place: Justin Alewine
4th Place: Aaron Mathew and DeMarki Miller
5th Place: Malek Burgess & Justin Dreher
6th Place: Darrell Goodwin

1st Place Restaurant Challenge (state): Catherine Frain & Christian McKie

2nd Place in State Retail Challenge (state): Madeline Hahn

2nd Place in Sports Challenge (state): Malik Ball, Jude Atkinson, and B'Nard Harkness
