Sophomore IGP/Registration conference begin today. Letters were mailed with the date and time reserved for you and your Blazer student. During the conference, the guidance counselors will do the following:
- Complete the annual verification of your address. Please bring or have your student bring one of the following to the conference: a current and original electric, land line phone, cable, or water bill. Waiting until the end of the school year to verify your address could affect your student's schedule or cause your student to be deleted from our system.
- Review your student's transcript to make sure that he/she is on track for promotion and graduation.
- Discuss your student's post high school plans for either a 2- or 4-year college, military, or work (IGP).
- Select classes for the 2014-2015 school year based on his/her academic record and post high school plans.
- Select core academic courses (English, Science, Social Studies, and Math) based on the student's current coursework and progress in class. Teachers will review the requested courses in the Spring. It is important that your student be prepared to select electives and at least two or three alternate electives in case students are unable to get the first choice.
Guidance counselors will not be creating an actual class schedule during the conference, but a selection of desired courses. Actual class schedules will be created in the Spring using the information gathered from these conferences and will be available over the Summer through Parent Portal.
Should you have any questions, please contact Ms. Jacqueline Walker, Director of Guidance, at 803.699.2999 ext. 215.
