The teacher cadets have begun their field experiences at local elementary or middle school classrooms at Rice Creek Elementary, Kelly Mill Middle, and Summit Parkway Middle Schools. Each cadet will spend approximately two months (45-minutes/day, 4 days/week) in his or her cooperating teacher's classroom. Initially, the cadets will observe the students and the teaching practices of a master teacher, and after a week or two, the cadets will assist with various classroom duties and practices. Finally, toward the end of the field experience, each teacher cadet will create and teach a minimum of two lessons. The cadets are already making us proud as they dress professionally each day, and many have already taken the initiative to teach mini-lessons in their respective classes. Way to go cadets!
