The South Carolina Area Health Education Consortium has announced some summer opportunities for students.
- Summer Careers Academy: designed to increase the acceptance, retention, and graduation rates of under-represented minority and disadvantaged students to nursing, dental, pharmacy, medicine, and other health professions training programs in S.C. The Academy is conducted in collaboration with MUSC College of Nursing, College of Dental Medicine, College of Pharmacy, College of Health Professions, College of Medicine and Library, and is generally held during the first week of June.
- Health Careers Summer Institute: provides an intensive, residential educational experience for high schools and undergraduate students interested in a health professions career. The 4 day event includes activities and interactive sessions on academic and career planning, resource development and basic health skills training facilitated by healthcare practitioners and educators.
- Regional Summer Programs: These 5 week programs vary, and may include academic enrichment workshops, college level course instruction, internships in healthcare offices or facilities and health professions training.
