Cornelius Harvin graduated from RVHS in 2006 as one of the most decorated runners in school history. Sadly, Cornelius passed away in 2011 and leaves behind a legacy of greatness that transcends sports. The Cornelius Harvin Memorial Award is awarded to the Ridge View student athlete who displays the qualities of selflessness, leadership, passion, joy and competitiveness that Cornelius himself displayed while competing for Ridge View. The award recipients for 2014 are Jontay Mitchem and Chris Moody.
Mitchem was a 3-time all-region and 2-time all-state basketball player. Unfortunately, she missed most of her senior season due to injury. She will be attending Western Carolina University on a basketball scholarship.
Moody was the Region 4-AAAA Baseball Player of the Year and a member of the All-State team after pitching 5 complete games, 3 shutouts, and 2 non-hitters this year. He will be attending Erskine College on a baseball scholarship.
