On our Summer Reading Day, students participated in a book study of Who Am I Without Him by Sharon Flake. Students in this group discussed by books based on quotes provided by the teachers. Students also made real world connections using scenarios from the book by writing in a journal about their thoughts on the story. Afterwards, they were divided into groups and began recording their advice on flip paper to post in the classroom. Students then conducted a Gallery Walk and added advice or comments that they feel might be missing or making note of those that resonate with them. In addition, students created a movie soundtrack based on the collection of stories.
