ACADEMICS: Stinney Presentation on Social Injustice
On October 2nd, the Scholars Academy's Research 2 class made a presentation about their advocacy work related to the George Stinney case in the RVHS auditorium. George Stinney, a boy from South Carolina, was the youngest person ever to be executed in the United States in 1944. This group of students has worked for over a year to advocate the reopening of the Stinney case in hopes that a retrial based on evidence that was not examined in the original trial. The student's presentation provided an overview of the case and what everyone can do to help.
