The Ridge View Blazer Rangers Rifle Team has traveled out of state once and competed in four other local events since the start of their season. During the Columbus Day weekend in October, the team traveled to Nashville, TN to compete in the Montgomery Bell Rifle Classic. This was a national level competition designed to showcase young talent to college scouts. The Blazer Rangers improved this season by moving from 5th place last year to 4th place this year. Tatiana LeGrand earned a place in the finals, in which she competed with the Top 8 students in the nation. This 2-day competition, with 10-shot finals, was truly a stressful event for everyone. Tatiana shook off a bad first shot, found her "happy place" and rose to finish 4th overall for individuals, placing her in the Top 100 competitors in the nation. Also, the team as a whole has won nearly every 1st place trophy at all the other competitions for which they have participated.
In December, 8 members of the Blazer Rifle Rangers will travel to Anniston, AL to compete at the Gary Anderson Invitational, followed by the 4th Brigade Army JROTC Best of the Best Championship in Lexington, NC. We wish them luck and can't wait to hear the results. Go Blazers.
