The Carolina Alliance for Technology (CAT) engineering students participated in the USC Enhanced Learning Experience recently. Professor Juan divided the students into groups that formed companies. The companies had to develop a name and then they were given a project to build a bridge that covered a certain area. They had to design the bridge and present the design to the entire group. Because the designers are not always builders, Professor Juan took up the designs and reassigned them to different companies. The companies had to develop a bid, and then build the bridge. They were given monopoly money and had to buy the products to build the bridge. The finished bridge was tested by weights. This served as a great simulation of a real world experience using engineering skills.
