ACADEMICS: The ACT WorkKeys Pretest

As partners in your child's education, it is important to ensure that they are prepared for each step along their educational journey.  One way to determine student prepardness is though assessment.  Thus, we are administering college and career ready pretests on Tuesday, January 26th.  These pretests can be found in the Career Ready 101 program and will measure students current skill levels in the areas of Applied Mathematics, Locating Information, and Reading for Information.  Since the Career Ready 101 pretests are online, students will need to bring their chromebooks to school on Tuesday, January 26th.  Their chromebooks need to be fully charged and in working condition.

Students will receive Career Ready 101 prescribed lessons after taking the pretests.  3rd year students will need complete these lessons in order to prepare for the actual ACT WorkKeys assessment on March 2, 2016.  The ACT WorkKeys measures essential workforce skills; and based on their scores, students may earn one of four National Career Readiness certificates.  These certificates can help students find summer and part-time jobs, as well as internships.

If you have any questions about Career Ready 101 or the ACT WorkKeys, please contact Dr. Marlon Thomas by email (mthomas@richland2.org) or by phone (803.699.2999 ext 84202).
