On February 12th, members of the Scholars Academy Junior class met with Representative Mia McLeod to discuss how they could support advancement of the Sierra's Law bill currently in the house judiciary committee. The bill would provide students with the ability to file for an order of protection against abusive partners, as well as provide funds for education about the signs of dating violence, as well as what to do if you are in an abusive relationship. McLeod, a longtime activist in domestic violence plans to partner with the group to spotlight this issue in the community.
