Beginning in January 2017, the Blazer Rangers Rifle team is now open to all students of Ridge View and not just JROTC cadets. There will be two interest meetings in room B-35. The first will be this Friday, December 16th during lunch and the second meeting will be on Tuesday, January 3, 2017. Any student desiring to be a member of the Blazer Rangers must attend training and tryouts in order to join the team. No prior experience with shooting is needed; everything will be taught to you. The Blazer Rangers travel the Eastern U.S. competing in local, national and international events. Air Rifle Marksmanship is part of the Olympic sport of shooting and is recognized by the NCAA as a championship sport. Target shooting is practiced as a sport in more than 150 countries and is a sport for all regardless of gender, size, speed or "natural ability" in determining success. Shooting is a coed sport where females and males compete equally; over 40% of recent college All-American teams were women; 70% of the top 20 athletes in four different championship events were female. Air Rifle Marksmanship is a fun sport where you get out of it what you put into it. If interested, come to the interest meeting this Friday in B-35 or e-mail Major England at gengland@richland2.org.
