Top (L-R): Nicole Walker, Savannah Talledo & Micayla Hayden |
Blazer Seniors Micayla Hayden and Savannah Talledo recently spoke to the Blythewood Rotary. Savannah spoke about her experience as part of the BioHealth Magnet and about her internship at Providence Hospital including witnessing open heart surgery. This experience was helpful leading up to her scoring in the top 10 at the Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) International Championship last spring. Meanwhile Micayla spoke about the skills she has developed as part of the Scholars Academy for Business and Law Magnet including being able to present information about Sierra's Law to a S.C. Senate subcommittee. She has learned that she can use her voice to work on advocacy work that she is passionate about. According to Principal Dr. Brenda Mack-Foxworth, "these young ladies did an excellent job speaking. They were poised, confident, and inspiring." Dr. Mack went on to thank Mrs. Nicole Walker and Mrs. Jennifer McLeod, Directors of the Scholars Academy and BiolHealth magnets respectively, for their role in the growth and development of these young ladies.
