The Richland School District Two Education Foundation awarded BioHealth Science magnet graduate Erin Walker, the 2017 Michael J. Lowder Scholarship. In her scholarship essay, she wrote about the parallels she saw in Aldous Huxley’s, “A Brave New World”, and current American culture in that the book mirrors the way society currently treats the rich, the poor, and those with an illness or disability. To change the predictions Huxley made about the future, she and her classmates tutored students struggling in math. Walker is enrolled at Clemson University, majoring in Biological Sciences and minoring in Spanish. After college, she plans to attend medical school and purse a career as an Interventional Radiologist.
