The Richland County Sheriff's Department K-9 team visited Mr. Griffin's Law Education class on Friday October 27th and Tuesday October 31st. Master Deputy Adam Oxendine and K-9 Bickle and Corporal Gavin Walmsley and K-9 Rico both gave outstanding presentations to students on the use of K-9's to detect drugs, free-air sniffs of automobiles, and 4th Amendment case law involving search and seizure and the use of K-9's in criminal apprehension. Corporal Walmsley has been recently been seen on the popular T.V. show "Live PD" and has gained somewhat of celebrity status in Richland County. Students were able to ask questions and interact with the police dogs up close. The K-9 visit is always a favorite among students at Ridge View High School.
