Introducing Ridge View's New Social Studies Teacher

Laurel Berkheimer attended the College of William and Mary in Virginia where she majored in History.  After graduation, Berkheimer attended the University of Southern California where she received her Master of Arts in Teaching and her multiple-subject teaching credential.  Berkheimer then went to work in the non-profit world for two years.  She worked for the Orange County Council of the Boy Scouts of America where she oversaw Troops, Packs, and Crews in the county.  Berkheimer was then given the opportunity to teach at a middle school in Tustin, CA, her hometown.  There she taught 6th-grade social studies, language arts, and reading.  During that time, Berkheimer obtained her Single Subject Credential in social studies.  In October, Berkheimer married a law student at the University of South Carolina and moved to Columbia.  In her spare time, Berkheimer enjoys running and attending football games.
