ACTIVITIES: Enjoying Time Spent with Our Military Students
The 2018 Student2Student (S2S) Holiday Celebration of Cookie Decorating, Games, Hot Chocolate and spending time with friends was a blast! Our military connected students serve alongside their parents whose first duty is to our great country defending our freedom. At Ridge View we recognize our students and support them through their many transitions, moves, and parent deployments. This marks our second annual Holiday Celebration and hopefully one of many to come. We give a special shout out to Tinesella Ross with the Columbia Area Parent To Parent Organization who not only works to support our local military families but also partners with RVHS S2S providing our students with service learning opportunities. This fall Teri'Anna Gibson, D'Nashia Swinton, and Essence Richardson assisted with the Tell Me A Story Event at R2i2. They were recognized for their service by Mrs. Tinesella Ross at the Holiday Celebration.

ACADEMICS: Scholars Sophomores Present Research and Design Work
The sophomore class of the Scholars Academy Magnet for Business and Law has an awesome fall finale for our school-based research and design projects on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at R2i2 after spending the semester working with Donne Teuber in the Richland Two Innovation Incubator. The group presented their ideas to Allen Garcie, a design professor from LSU, Shambi Broome, the CEO of WebGrylzCode and Meg Teuber, a graduate student at Penn State. The projects focused on hallway etiquette, mental health awareness, building relationships between guidance and students, establishing a student-led Khan Academy style tutoring system, better utilization of our courtyard spaces and building school pride. Next, the group will come back home to pitch ideas for implementation in our own school. These young people represent the best our future has to offer! Can’t wait to see what they do next. #futureSObright
