ACADEMICS: CAT Students Attend Girls STEM Fest

Left: Augustina Aidoo talks to Lauren Wallace about the
manufacturing process.  Right: Leah Atkinson learns the
importance of safety in manufacturing.

In December Edventure and TRANE joined forces and hosted a Girls STEM Fest at Trane.  Like many manufacturers in South Carolina they are growing very rapidly and have set high goals for the upcoming years.  Trane is actively trying to increase women in the engineering and manufacturing fields by exposing our students to the many career possibilities that exist in manufacturing.

Many female Trane employees spoke to our CAT young ladies about their career path and their passion at Trane.  Trane set up tables representing several different processes in the plant with the women who run them as facilitators.  The Ridge View CAT young ladies were able to engage these women in conversation about their career and got a chance to tour the facility.

Edventure representative, Marc Drews, stated in an email to RV CAT, "the engagement and enthusiasm that they shared was invigorating.  The tour of the facilities was amazing as they learned that the world of manufacturing has so many career possibilities.  Our entire team was blown away with how involved the students were as they spoke to employees who shared their passion about the important role they played at TRANE."  Samary Rodriguez from Trane mentioned, "Hosting these young women was an inspirable day for all of us. We hope to have a Girls STEM and MFG Summit every year moving forward."  This is great news and the CAT ladies are look forward to returning!
