The Blazer Times is Ridge View’s school newspaper, produced and written by Journalism I, II and III students. It features school events, sports, and teacher and student spotlights. The newspaper also covers news in the community, politics, and let's not forget about the restaurant and movie reviews.
Students working with the school newspaper must be enrolled in Journalism for the entirety of the year. During the 1st semester, training includes correctly using Associated Press, the official language of journalistic writing, as well as focusing on the four principles of journalism (consistency, clarity, accuracy, and brevity), which are essential to those who want to work in print journalism. Students begin writing for The Blazer Times in the second semester.
We are always looking for fresh ideas and enthusiastic students. If interested in joining the BlazerTimes staff, see your guidance counselor to be scheduled in journalism for the 2018-2019 school year. Click on the image to see some of the recent work by the 2017-2018 staff writers.
