ATHLETICS: Boys Wrestling Beats North Augusta

The Blazers wrestling team went to Gilbert to grapple with North Augusta and the host Indians. In the first match of the evening, the team was able to escape with a 43-42 tie-breaker win that put the team at 1-0 on the season. The Blazers were led by awesome performances by Michael McQueen and McKale Yanagacio. McKale's performance was especially impressive as he has not even had a chance to practice since football season ended on Friday and has been battling a cold since the weekend. Other Blazers that started the season with wins were Roman Robinson, Justin Louderbough, Jonathan Cardona, Aaron Wright, and Lorenza Waiters.

The Blazers did not fare as well against the Indians. While working to get as many guys matches on the first night of competition, the team wrestled with great effort. Unfortunately, even in a handful of toss-up matches, the results all went Gilbert's way as they gave Ridge View an 82-0 loss. The team will get back to work on Thursday and Friday as they prepare for the Swampfox Duals at Marion High School on Saturday.

Congratulations to Justin Louderbough, Janio Cespedes, Aaron Wright, Kevin Shepard, Joshua Williams, and Christopher Webb on getting their first varsity matches for Ridge View tonight. There are plenty more to come!
