ATHLETICS: Cheer Meeting Set for April 2nd

Ridge View announces the hiring of Porche Cameron as the new Cheerleading Coach.

Coach Cameron is originally from Batesburg-Leesville, SC, but currently resides in Blythewood with her husband and two awesome kids.

Porche cheered from kindergarten through college and has over 6 years experience as a coach. She began her coaching career with Pop Warner, and moved through the ranks to become a board member of the league.  She understands the amount of hard work and athleticism that goes into the sport of cheer, that often goes unnoticed by others.

“My passion is to not only build better athletes, but to prepare them for life and help them become the best version of themselves.  I am really excited to join the Ridge View family as the new Head Cheer Coach,” says Cameron.

Porche aspires to take the RVHS Cheer teams to the next level and hopes to make cheer one of the best aspects of her athletes’ high school career.

“We are all extremely excited to have Porche join our staff and continue the incredible trajectory of our Ridge View Cheer program,” says Brian Rosefield, RVHS Athletic Director.  “She brings a wealth of knowledge to our program and our kids.  I can’t wait to get her started.”

A Cheer meeting has been set for April 2, 2019 in the Main Gym at RVHS beginning at 6:00pm.  Come meet Porche, the rest of her staff, pick up the tryout packet and learn more about the direction of the program moving forward.   This meeting is for prospective Cheerleaders and their parents/guardians.

SCHOOL SAFETY: Intruder Drill Coming Soon

Ridge View will have an Unannounced Intruder Drill this month (March 2019). While the drill is in process our school will be placed on lockdown which means that no one will be allowed to enter or exit the building.

We are required by law to have a minimum of two intruder drills per year and practicing helps ensure our students are prepared in the event that we have to place our school on lockdown in an actual emergency situation.

There will be no weapons involved in this exercise. However, our goal is to provide a drill that is as realistic as possible to help faculty, staff, students, and our families know what to do in the case of a real emergency. We will have school counselors, our school psychologist, our school nurse and administrators on standby to address any needs that may arise.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact Mr. Ross at 803.699.2999 ext. 84504 or by email at braross@richland2.org.
