Congratulations to the winners of the Atlantic Institute's Ninth Annual Art and Essay contest! On Saturday, March 16th, at the Booker T. Washington Auditorium, several Scholars Academy students were awarded for their interpretations of this year's theme, "teenagers building community". Each winner placed in the top ten of the essay and art divisions of the competition. The winners are as follows:

8th - Marjorie Arnold, Senior
ESSAY
1st - Anna Jones, Freshman
4th - M'Chaelah Brown, Senior
5th - Abigail Adams, Senior
7th - Thomas Kane, Sophomore
9th - Rhiannon Thompson, Senior
10th - Hadaiya White, Senior
Each of the winners received gift cards of varying amounts to Artist & Craftsman Supply, an art supply store found online and in Charleston, SC. Jones, the first place winner of the essay division, also won a trip to Peru. Nicole Walker, Scholars Academy Magnet Director, has also been awarded a gift card, as well as a trip to Peru alongside Jones for her outstanding work and support as their teacher.
