The Ridge View High School Economics Challenge teams placed second and third in the SC state final competition on April 5th at the Darla Moore School of Business. Ten teams from across the state from high schools such as Richland Northeast, Hemingway, Mid Carolina, Irmo, Christ Church, and River Bluff qualified by scoring the highest on sets of online questions of microeconomics, macroeconomics, current events, and trade. The top ten qualifying teams were invited to spend the day at USC enjoying economics activities presented by USC economics professors, discussing economic and student matters with USC economics student panels, lunched with college economics students, graduate students, and business professionals, and took tests on economics concepts to qualify for a final face-off between the states top two teams.
Ridge View's second-place in SC team members are Ashley Hensley, Kamari Boyd, Iesha Whittaker, and Jonathan Person. Ridge View's third-place in SC team members are Tavia Nash, Jillian LeRoux, Isaiah Gordon, and Marvin Ramos. Ridge View had a third team to qualify for the state finals competition, which included Miranda Hurt, Ka'naia Graham-Wroten, and Shavon Wiggins. This is the tenth year that Ridge View has placed in the top three of the state Economics Challenge finals.
