The Auntie Karen Foundation Young Entrepreneurs Conference

Auntie Karen's 11th Annual Young Entrepreneurs Conference is scheduled for October 12th from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at Benedict College.  This one day event is for youth, ages 7 to 22, from across the state and region to teach skills in areas not traditionally afforded to them. 

This year's theme is "The Art of Business."  Subject areas include: identifying entrepreneurial skills, marketing your business, and understanding business finance tools. In addition, students will interact with community, business, sports and entertainment leaders. In addition to the conference, the "Successville" Youth Business Expo and Showcase, which is free and open to the public, will take place from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm in the Benedict College gymnasium.  The showcase will include Young Entrepreneurs, Dancers and Musical Acts. RVHS Varsity Completes The Sweep Of Lancaster!!!

The Varsity football team traveled to Lancaster for their first away game, and those Blazer fans that made the trip were not disappointed.  The Blazers scored on offense, special teams, and defense coming away with a 29 - 0 win.  The stats below speak for themselves.  Way to go Blazers!!

Offense: 

gained 384 yards (168 passing + 216 rushing)

T. Fetterson (QB): 8 of 17 for 168 yards, 1 touchdown

O. Ntiasagwe (WR): 5 catches for 122 yards, 1 touchdown

W. Napper (RB): 29 rushes for 131 yards, 1 touchdown

Defense: 

only allowed 3 yards (20 rushing yards, but -17 passing yards)

R. Miller (LB): 13 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 1 intercept, 1 touchdown

M. Montgomery (LB): 11 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 

C. McKie (LB): 8 tackles, 1 tackle for loss

Special Teams

E. Kablaoui: 2 of 3 XP, 1 field goal for 20 yards

D. Crim: 77 yard punt return for touchdown

Morehouse College Visits RVHS

Mr. Darnell Shelton, the Assistant Director of Admissions of Morehouse College visited RVHS today to provide students with information about the college.  RVHS would like to thank Mr. Shelton and Morehouse College for providing the RVHS students the opportunity to learn more about the historic institution.

Sports Medicine Students Learn In And Out Of Classroom

The Sports Medicine students are a valuable part of the athletics program at RVHS.  They are able to learn in and out of the classroom by working as athletic trainers for the RVHS sports teams under the direct supervision of professional athletic trainers.

RVHS B / JV Football Teams Does It Again!!!

The RVHS B Team and JV football teams hosted Lancaster High School last night for their first home games of the year.  The B Team won 49 - 6 and the JV won 12 - 0.  Tonight the Varsity will travel to Lancaster to play their first away game.  GO BLAZERS!!!

SAT and ACT Workshops

Half-day workshops to prepare for the SAT and ACT will be offered at the View on Thursday, September 12th.  Cost is $35.  If interested, see Ms. Bishop in the College and Career Center to sign up.  Get help and raise your test scores!

Cross Country Places 3rd & 4th at Home Meet

The boys and girls cross country teams ran in a 9-team meet against South Carolina and North Carolina teams at Sandhills Research Center on Wednesday, September 4th.  The boys placed 3rd overall, and were led by Paolo Milan, who navigated the 3.1-mile course in a time of 17:29.  The Lady Blazers also had a good showing placing 4th in the team standings.  Junior Kelsey Ballou led the girls with a time of 20:58.  

Next up for the cross country teams is the Bob Jenkins Coaches Classic meet on Saturday, September 14th, which will also be held at Sandhills.  This is the largest meet in the state of South Carolina.  Come on out and cheer on your Blazers!
