Congratulations to the Ridge View boys golf team for their victory over Irmo High School. The Blazers battled hard against the Yellow Jackets and the Demons of Lugoff-Elgin in a tri-match at the Windermere Club. The final team scores were Lugoff-Elgin 199 Ridge View 203 Irmo 223. The Blazers were lead by Jacob Fink who shot a season low 38. Junior Christian Wilson shot a 47 and Freshman Brent Wilson shot a 48 to help the Blazers secure the win over Irmo. The team will be back in action on Monday, April 22 when they play Spring Valley and Blythewood at The Woodlands Country Club.

Voc Rehab 2019 Summer Business and College Tours
Richland Area Transition Counselors will be hosting our Annual College and Career Tours for students that are on a South Carolina State Diploma Track during the weeks of June 13th - June 28th. The tours are designed to provide students the opportunity to learn more about college admissions requirements, disability services, the financial aid process, and majors offered. Students will also have an opportunity to speak with professionals in various fields.
This program is ideal for rising juniors and seniors for the 2019-20 school year., but rising sophomores and graduating seniors for the 2019 school year are welcome to participate as well if they haven’t made a college decision. If students participated in the 2018 tours they are welcome to participate again this year if they desire (not required).
Students will report daily to 201 Corporate Park Blvd. Columbia SC 29223. Please be advised we only have 40 slots available for this tour and we serve every school in Richland County. Spots will be honored on a first come first serve basis. A full Itinerary will be provided for interested participants after last dates are finalized.

ACADEMICS: Congrats to CAT Senior, Tairiq Mansfield
Congrats to Ridge View High School’s senior, Tairiq Mansfield! He was one of 93 high school seniors celebrated and recognized at the 3rd Annual South Carolina Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Signing Day, hosted by Boeing, BMW and the SC Manufacturers Alliance (SCMA). He was also acknowledged for his stellar academic performance in high school by the State Superintendent Molly Spearman. Maintaining a 4.123 GPA, Tairiq plans to attend Clemson University and major in Civil, Biomedical, or Aerospace Engineering. SIC Officers Nominations Due, May 1st
Leadership is an important ingredient for all successful organizations and the School Improvement Council (SIC) is no exception. Ridge View High School’s award-winning School Improvement Council is a great place to get involved, and if you have experience in SIC leadership or have previously been involved with SIC and wish to become engaged in a leadership capacity, now is the time to act.
The offices of SIC Chairperson, SIC Vice Chairperson, and SIC Secretary/Recorder will be voted upon at the May 6, 2019, SIC meeting. If you are interested in being considered for any of the three available leadership offices, please submit your name, a brief bio (including a statement as to why you’d like to be considered), and the office for which you wish to be considered, to the principal, Dr. Brenda Mack-Foxworth at bmack@richland2.org. The deadline for submissions is May 1, 2019.

ACTIVITIES: FBLA Sophomores Attend State Competition
Two FBLA students from Ridge View High School placed at the District Leadership Conference to compete in the State FBLA Competition in Charleston. Although they did not place for the National Conference, Sophomores Kyrstin White and Azahria Davis put their best foot forward showing true professionalism and drive. White and Davis represented Ridge View as Voting Delegates and were elected the state officers for the 2019-2020 school year. Congratulations also goes to our Advisor Naleesha Brown and the Ridge View DECA Team for an awesome performance at the FBLA State Competition!!! Go Blazers!!!
