In Ms. Richardson's and Ms. Smith's book study group of Silver Sparrow, the students took on the role of a character from the book and created a Tweet as if they were the character. They also created an iPod shuffle where they created a playlist to serve as the soundtrack for the book. To connect the two, a Twitter account was created at @miss_tsmith and posted some of their work. The group happened to find the author, Tayari Jones (pictured below), and mentioned her in a tweet about the soundtrack. Ms. Jones noticed the tweet and inquired about our Summer Reading Day hashtag, #RVreads2013. In their conversation, the group informed the author that they would send her a copy of the soundtrack produced, and in return, Ms. Jones is sending the group autographed book plates in return.
