Blythewood Rivalry Spirit Week is scheduled for November 4-8. Ridge View is partnering with Lake Carolina to help Amelia Attaway. Amelia is a 2nd grader at Lake Carolina Elementary who was recently diagnose with a brain tumor. She recently had surgery and is now going for treatment daily.
Lake Carolina "Wishes for Amelia" includes a wishing well where are students are encourage to put money in the well and make a wish for Amelia. The money will be donated to Amelia's family to help make her wishes come true. What are her wishes you ask? Some of them include:
- Learning how to shoot a bow and arrow
- Meeting Disney's Merida from the movie, Brave
- Riding in a hot air balloon
- Taking her American Girl doll to tea at the Atlanta store
How can we help? During Blythewood Spirit Week, the Archery Club, sponsored by Mr. Houck, will help Amelia learn to shoot a bow and arrow. Student Activities will host two fundraising events. The first is Hat Day on November 5th in which students can pay a $1 to wear a hat. The second in the Mr. Blythewood pageant. Female faculty members will dress up as men. The contestants and their fans will work throughout the week to raise money. The contestant who raises the most money will be crowned Mr. Blythewood at the pep rally.
