Ridge View High is proud to announce that it will once again be raising money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund (JDRF). Any funds raised during our Cominghome Week activities including the Student-Faculty Basketball Game scheduled for Tuesday, February 4th will benefit the Palmetto Chapter of JDRF. Students can make donations to teachers or can drop it off there donation to the Annex. Community members can also make donations by dropping off their contribution to the Main Office. Checks are acceptable and should be made out to "JDRF."
For those of you who do not know much about juvenile diabetes, it is an autoimmune disease in which a person's pancreas stops producing insulin, a hormone that enables people to get energy from food. There is nothing you can do to prevent it, and nothing you can do to get ride of it. As many as three million Americans have it. Each year, more than 15,000 children and 15,000 adults in the U.S., approximately 80 people per day, are diagnosed with it.
