Richard Black, a BioHealth Magnet student, attended the National Student Leadership Conference on Medicine & Health Care at Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA. The session held August 3-12 immersed high school students in the challenging complexities of the medical profession. It exposes them to the techniques of doctors and nurses during hands-on clinical rounds where they treat patients in a true-to-life outbreak simulation. Richard interacted with practicing physicians, scientific researchers, medical school students and residents. He also grapple with controversial medical issues, learn about today's health care challenges and explore advanced scientific research in areas such as cancer and HIV/AIDS. In addition to learning clinical and surgical techniques, Richard explored other areas of study and career paths with health care.
