ATHLETICS: Volleyball Victory & SisterCare Charity Support

The Blazer Volleyball team defeated Spring Valley last Thursday 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-14) assuring the team a spot in the State Playoffs. The team followed up this victory by participating in one of their annual philanthropic events on Saturday, The Mayor's Walk Against Domestic Violence. This is a great event that brings awareness to domestic violence. Over the last several years, South Carolina has ranked first or second among the states that yield the highest number of domestic violence related deaths. During the month of October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Coach Amber Haver is educating her volleyball athletes on how to identify the warning signs of abuse and abusers in an effort to prevent student-athletes from entering into abusive relationships. The Blazer Volleyball team will be collecting items to donate to SisterCare, a local women's shelter.
