The Blazer Track & Field teams traveled to Dutch Fork last week. The Lady Blazers defeated the Silver Foxes 69-66 while the boys fell to Dutch Fork 46-89. Senior Kelsey Ballou turned in a standout performance by beating Dutch Fork's star distance runners in the 800 with a time of 2:31. Junior Faith McKie won the 100 Hurdles (16.7), 400 Hurdles (70.0) and High Jump (4' 10") while also being part of the winning 4x400 Meter Relay. Junior Arlicia Bush won the 200 (25.28), the 400 (59.28), an event in which she is the defending state champion, and anchored come from behind victories in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays. Other winners included Gabrielle Rodgers in the Shot Put (34' 1") and Alicia McCorkle in the Long Jump (13' 5"). Meanwhile the boys were placed by a victory in the 4x800 Relay team of Marcel Boatwright, Jermaine McIntosh, Marlon Natty and Darrien Green (8:40), and strong performances by Marlon Natty in the 400 (52.79) and Marcus Reaster-Glover in the 200 (22.46). Both teams travel to Westwood tonight for a tri-meet with Lugoff-Elgin.
