At The View would like to welcome Mr. Yerrick Stoneman to the Ridge View faculty. Coach Stoneman will be teaching Career Prep and will coach the Boys Varsity Basketball team. He is a native of Galax, Virginia, where he has lived for most of his life. He attended Virginia Commonwealth University and Virginia Tech. After graduating from Virginia Tech in 1995 with a B.S. in Physical Education & Health, he began his coaching career in 1996 at nationally acclaimed Oak Hill Academy. During his time at Oak Hill, he served as Assistant Basketball Coach, Dorm Parent and teacher. While at Oak Hill, he coached 58 Division I players including future NBA players Carmelo Anthony, DeSagana Diop, Kevin Durant, Brandon Jennings, Rajon Rondo and Josh Smith. In 2007, he and his family made the decision to move back to Galax, where he worked at Galax Middle and High Schools from 2007 through 2016 holding a number of positions including Athletic Director, PE teacher, Girls Basketball, Volleyball and Track Coach. In addition to teaching and coaching, Coach Stoneman also serves in the U.S. Army Reserves as a Lieutenant and Unit Commander. He, his wife and two daughters are excited about relocating to South Carolina and look forward to being part of the Ridge View family. Welcome to The View!
