REMINDER: Summer Reading Day This Wednesday

RVHS will be hosting its 9th Annual Summer Reading Celebration Day this Wednesday, September 28th. This event serves as the culmination of our summer reading program, Ridge View Reads. The purpose of this program is to motivate non-readers to read and encourage readers to read more over the summer. On average, students lose three months of information retention over the summer, but reading just 15 minutes a day can prevent this loss. Summer reading can also serve as an exciting opportunity for students to read for pleasure while building background knowledge and comprehension skills. Our faculty and staff provide an opportunity for students to have fun, learn and grow from discussions and activities during our celebration day while cultivating an atmosphere promoting dialogue and community. To view our summer reading list, visit the Ridge View High School home page.

Students will begin their day in their Advisory class before attending their book group meetings for a morning and afternoon session. The day will end with our Carnival of Success in which students can participate in a multitude of activities including dancing, gaming, organized sporting games, and other interesting activities. Ridge View is excited to be offering this program once again. This is a regular school day and attendance will be taken. Our faculty and staff has worked hard to make this a special day for our student body.
