Scholars Magnet for Business and Law Senior, Queen Trapp, was one of the 18 high school students from across South Carolina chosen to participate in the Riley Institute's annual Emerging Public Leaders program, which encourages students to develop solutions to urgent problems the community is facing today.
Trapp spent her summer at Furman University analyzing critical issues, practicing ethical leadership, developing communication and presentation skills in order to develop a service project that will address the needs and diversity of her local community. Throughout the 2017-18 school year, she will continue to work with Riley Institute and the Ridge View staff to implement the initiatives of her community service project. In the Spring she will return to Furman University to present her project to a panel of judges. The winning project will receive funds to expand or replicate the program.
