20 students attended the 2018 State HOSA Leadership Conference in Charleston and were the definition of TEAM in all they did and represented! Seventeen of them experienced the first round test; and of those, sixteen qualified for the second round, where they showed off the application of their skills related to their specified area.
Ridge View remained the top in the state for Creative Problem Solving, which included Faith Thompson, Iyanna Chapman & Miranda Hurt. Faith & Iyanna placed first last year. This was Miranda's first year. Other winners include:
- Averiona McDonald, 2nd in Medical Assisting
- Joy Van Kallen, 3rd in Physical Therapy
- Ericka Van Alstine, 2nd in Knowledge Test for Pathophysiology
All of these students will compete at the International HOSA Leadership Conference in Dallas, Texas the last week in June!
Tobi Ariyo (Pathophysiology) and Makayla Sims (Nursing Assisting) also placed in the Top Five for their areas and still have a chance to go to nationals. Makayla also received a $500 scholarship. Hats off to all the competitors! Good luck at Nationals.
