Cell photo taken in Dr. Degenhardt's class |
The picture to the left is of a cross-section of celery stem tissue viewed at 100x under a compound light microscope. Students in Biology last week conducted a laboratory investigation to learn more about cells and the proper use of laboratory equipment. Lesson objectives were to demonstrate proficiency in the use of microscopes, and investigate cell differentiation. The picture shown is a student-generated slide preparation showing a vascular bundle (dark blue) containing xylem and phloem, surrounded by larger perenchyma cells.
