Congratulations to the Blazer Rangers Rifle Team for successfully passing the first of three steps toward qualifying for the CMP National Championship. To qualify for this extremely demanding event, teams are required to win a Regional Postal Match to advance to a Regional Championship Match before finally advancing to the National Championship.
The Blazer Rangers qualified for a regional match by placing 8th in the postal match sporter class for the Southeast Region consisting of several hundred air rifle shooting programs (JROTC, Boy Scouts, 4H, and other junior clubs) from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. The postal match consists of teams competing at their home locations and then mailing off their scores. The top twenty teams and top eight individuals from each U.S. region qualify for a regional match.
Next on the road to success is a Regional Championship match in Anniston, Alabama at the Civilian Marksmanship Program Training Center on April 3-5, 2014. From there, the top teams and individuals will advance to the CMP National Championship scheduled for June 12-14, 2014.
Congratulations to Justin Turrentine, Tatiana LeGrand, Za'Cori Ross and Joseph Guider whose performances were counted toward the team score. Other Blazers competing were Nichelle Rodriguez, Joseph Rivers, Sydney Brown, Deion Pitts, Kiet Sykes, and Da'Von Scott.
