The Scholars Academy sophomores spent time with Richland County Medical Examiner Nikki Acerra on Friday, May 8th. Ms. Acerra discussed how evidence is collected and analyzed as part of crime scenes. Her visit came after the students have spent the year studying the popular podcast Serial about a recently reopened crime case committed in the late 1990s. Throughout this study, the students focus has been on evaluation, synthesis and positing theories as relating to their research.
