ACADEMICS: HOSA Students Qualify for International Competition

Ridge View students represented their HOSA chapter with excellence at the South Carolina State Leadership Conference in March. Nine students placed in the top five and eight individual medals were won! The following Blazers placed in their respective categories:

  • Tori Huey: Gold Medal in Knowledge Test - Nutrition
  • Erin Walker: Gold Medal in Biomedical Lab Science
  • Alicia McCorkle: Silver Medal in Medical Assisting
  • Savannah Talledo: Silver Medal in Clinical Studies
  • Tobi Ariyo: Bronze Medal in Knowledge Test - Pathiophysiology
  • John Barnett: Bronze Medal in Physical Therapy
  • Jamila Green: Bronze Medal in Biomedical Lab Science
  • Kassidy Todd: Bronze Medal in Medical Assisting
  • Sara Duenas: 4th Place in Physical Therapy 
As a result of their exceptional performances, these nine students have qualified for the International HOSA Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, which will be held from June 21st to June 26th. Special congratulations to Tori Huey as she won a $1,000 Scholarship from the Health Science Educators Alliance, and to Jamila Green on being awarded the RVHS Outstanding HOSA member for 2015-2016. Lastly, congratulations to their coaches: Ms. Dianne Melton, Ms. Mary Harmon and Dr. David Degenhardt. Congratulations Blazers and good luck in Nashville!
