ACADEMICS: Zika Trap Project

The Anatomy and Physiology students are working with a group called the Mosquito Authority to build a database which tracks the spread of viruses such as the Zika Virus. The class has five traps located all around campus and are looking to collect mosquito eggs to send to a lab. The collect the samples and reset the traps every five days for fifteen days. After all of the samples have been collected, they are sent to a lab in North Carolina to raise the mosquito's and test for the viruses. The question for the students is "what positive effect can I have on my community by collecting these mosquito eggs?"
