Richland School District Two will delay the opening of school by two hours, Thursday, January 18, 2018, for students and employees. In a two-hour delay: (1) students who ride the bus should report to their bus stops two hours later than usual; (2) car-riders should be dropped off at schools two hours later than usual; and (3) employees who have not been notified otherwise, should report to work two hours later than usual.
District staff have and continue to travel throughout the district to assess roads, bridges and overpasses. The delay will provide additional time in the morning for district staff to check roads and make sure conditions are safe for travel. If staff determine that conditions are not safe for travel early tomorrow morning, the district will send an automated message to parents by 6:30 a.m. notifying them of additional schedule adjustments.
High school families, please note that Thursday, January 18, will no longer be a half-day for high schools. That half-day for high schools has now been moved to Monday, January 22, which will now be the end of first semester. Friday, January 19, will remain a half-day for all students.
Again, Richland Two will operate on a two-hour delay on Thursday, January 18. Thursday is no longer a half-day for high school students. Friday, January 19, remains a half-day for all students, and Monday, January 22, is now a half-day for high school students only. If additional schedule adjustments are needed for Thursday due to unsafe travel conditions, parents will receive notification by 6:30 a.m. Thursday morning.
