The South Carolina Honors College at the University of South Carolina invites students to enter the 6th annual South Carolina Honors College Writing Contest for a chance to win cash prizes and a publishing opportunity. The contest is open to all high school juniors and seniors who are residents of South Carolina. This year's topic is "How should we improve the state of South Carolina?" Students may respond in any genre (fiction, drama, poetry, essay) in 750 words or less.
Grand Judge is Dr. Walter Edgar, author, editor, historian and radio host.
Cash prizes of $1,000, $500, and $250 will be awarded to first, second and third place winners. The entries of finalists and winners will be published in a young writers anthology by the South Carolina Honors College. The deadline is Monday, October 29, 2018.
